Why Are We All So Curious About Others?
Curiosity about what others think, feel, and do is hardwired into our brains. It’s how humans survived and thrived for thousands of years, by understanding each other and learning from shared experiences. But what happens when life gets complicated and you can’t find the answers you need?

When Silence Creates Isolation
The couple behind It’s Personal FYI, discovered this firsthand when a relative experienced depression. For months, the family couldn’t discuss it with anyone, she didn’t want others to know. The isolation became overwhelming.
They recall how that after about eight months of family members not being about to talk about it, it started to really affect everyone personally. They learned then that you don’t know what happens behind anybody’s closed door, and quite often you think you are the only person going through those particular circumstances.
That’s when they realised something powerful: A story shared is a story halved.
The Gap Between Public and Private Life
Through various life experiences, It’s Personal FYI founders noticed a fascinating pattern. Some friends completely understood difficult situations because they’d faced similar challenges. Others had no understanding whatsoever, making naive comments about people needing to “pull their shit together and get on with life.”
This revealed a crucial gap: we’re all curious about how others handle life’s challenges, but social taboos prevent us from discussing the most important stuff.

Creating a Safe Space for Truth
As naturally curious people who find everyone has their own story, our founders wondered: what if there was a way to share these private experiences anonymously? What if we could learn from each other without judgment or embarrassment?
That’s how It’s Personal FYI was born, a platform where Australians can safely explore what others really think, do, and feel behind closed doors.
From Serious to Lighthearted
The questionnaires cover everything from life’s biggest challenges to everyday quirks. As they put it: “Are you a folder or a scruncher of toilet paper? Does the toilet paper come from underneath or around the top?”
It’s designed to be serious when it needs to be, but also fun, lighthearted, and even a bit naughty when exploring personal secrets and habits.
Our Mission
We believe everyone deserves to know they’re not alone in their experiences. By creating a space where honesty thrives and judgment doesn’t exist, we’re building a knowledge base that helps us all understand the true nature of human experience.
Your curiosity matters. Your story matters. And your participation helps someone else feel less isolated in their own journey.
